名前のごとく「川中島合戦」で有名な長野市川中島地区で作られました。
この地区は千曲川流域周辺で非常に水はけがよく、昼夜の気温差が大きいため甘みの強い桃が育ちます。
果肉は白くやや硬めで、果汁の多い桃です。

「白鳳」は、現在もっとも多く生産されている品種で、この「みさか白鳳」以外にも「日川白鳳」「八幡白鳳」「桃山白鳳」「山梨白鳳」などがあります。
糖度が高く果肉は繊維が少なくやわらかくで、とてもジューシーな味わいです。
