フルーツというよりも、サラダや炒め物などで野菜として食されます。
種をスプーンなどで取り出し、皮は硬いのでピーラーで剥きます。果肉を千切りにして下準備は完了です。
アクが強い場合は千切りのあとに水にさらします。
味はほんのりと甘みがあり、特別強い味があるわけではありません。生のままならシャキシャキとした食感が楽しめます。
