出始めから7月中旬くらいまでは、『レッドビュート』『紅りょうぜん』『サンタローザ』といった品種が出回ります。
食物繊維が多く、整腸作用に優れるため便秘解消に最適です。また酸味の成分はリンゴ酸とクエン酸で、疲労回復に効果。カリウムなどミネラルも豊富で、高血圧予防に有効です。
