【千秋】に【つがる】を交配して育成され、平成5年に品種登録されたもので、季節的には中生品種の先陣を切るりんごです。
見た目でハッキリ他のリンゴと区別がつく、濃い赤色が外見上の特徴。果肉は堅めで歯応えがあります。
蜜はあまりありませんが、甘味/酸味共に中程度あり、香りが強く果汁がたっぷりあるので、食べごたえがあります。
