2022～2023年シーズンの取り扱いは2月の初旬で終了いたしました。

安納芋と同等の甘さを持つ「紅はるか」を、茨城県・JAなめがた甘藷(さつまいも)部会にて生産したものを、独自で商標登録した名称が「紅優甘」です。
収穫期よりも貯蔵されることで甘味がのり、年明けする頃に甘さが高まります。
焼き芋や天ぷらにすると美味しいですし、滑らかさを活かしペーストにしてお菓子に利用するのに最適です。

反り返えった紡錐方形で、表面にある黒い横縞とあわせてエビのように見えることが名前の由来。 肉質は粉質で、粘り気に富み、よく締まった風味を持ちます。
京都府を中心に作られるものは京芋（きょういも）とも呼ばれ伝統野菜ともなっていますが、宮崎県が主産地の「京いも」とは別ものです。
